Residents evacuated from building fire - Glebe

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has safely evacuated 16 people from a building fire on Glebe Point Road, Glebe overnight.

On arrival, FRNSW crews found a building alight with reports of people still inside.

Firefighters performed search and rescue of the building and evacuated all residents from the building before extinguishing the fire.

FRNSW is working with NSW Police to determine the cause of the fire.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said FRNSW is attending numerous house fires and that it was a timely reminder for residents to develop their fire escape plan.

"Now is the time for residents to check they have a working smoke alarm and that all members of the family have an awareness of calling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency," he said.
