Gunpowder found in abandoned shed - Blakehurst

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has responded to a HAZMAT incident at Orana Cresent, Blakehurst earlier this afternoon.

Crews arrived to find 10KGs of gunpowder located in an abandoned shed.

It is believed the previous resident (who has passed away) used the gunpowder to make fireworks and stored it in the shed untouched for over 30 years.

The NSW Police Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit has been notified to ensure all chemicals are dealt with correctly.

The gunpowder has also been seized by Police.
