Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has praised a resident's quick thinking which prevented a potential house fire in Port Macquarie earlier today.

Crews responded to a Triple Zero (000) call after a heat lamp caught fire in a bathroom at Greenmeadows Drive.

Firefighters extinguished the fire on scene and used a thermal imaging camera to check if the fire had spread further.

Damage was contained to the heat lamp due to the speedy response from the resident.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for an emergency can be the difference between life and death.

The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
