House Fire - Harden

Published: 09 Jun 2021 09:13am

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) today extinguished a house fire in Clarke Street, Harden, where a mother and young daughter safely escaped the flames.

The fire was believed to have started in the kitchen of the home and quickly spread to the remainder of the building, with numerous Triple Zero (000) calls coming form the public.

Firefighters could see the smoke on their way to the scene and on arrival got to work on the fire from the rear of the house, with access via a back lane.

NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) and NSW Police were in attendance.

The house was damaged extensively and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said the leading cause of house fires in NSW is leaving cooking unattended and it was important the community remembered to keep looking when cooking.

"If your cooking catches fire, never use water to put out a fat or oil fire, turn off the stove if it is safe to do so and call Triple Zero (000)."
