Hikers rescued in Kosciuszko National Park - Kosciuszko National Park

Fire and Rescue NSW, along with other emergency services personnel, helped rescue four people lost in snow in the Kosciuszko National Park last night.
The people were hiking approximately three kilometres from Charlotte‘s Pass on the Blue Lake Walk when they became disorientated and called Triple Zero (000) for assistance.
Using six wheeler motorbikes, ATV side-by-side motorbikes and a four-wheel-drive ambulance, FRNSW, along with NSW Police and NSW Ambulance, set out just before midnight to locate the missing hikers.
Half an hour later, the rescue was called to a stop because of a snow drift on the track that was at a 45° angle, preventing the use of any motorised vehicles.
Emergency services personnel then walked the remaining one kilometre on foot to reach the lost hikers.
At approximately 1.00 am, in 2°C and 40km winds, the four people were located safe and sound, albeit cold, wet and hungry.
The hikers were then led back to safety by emergency services personnel where they were assessed by NSW Ambulance before returning to their accommodation.
