House Fire - Louth Park

Published: 10 May 2021 09:07am

More than 20 firefighters from both Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) and the NSW Rural Fire Service are currently on scene at a house fire in Reflection Drive, Louth Park which broke out just after 9am this morning.

On arrival, firefighters found smoke and flames coming through the roof of the single-storey home. Crews have been working for more than an hour to contain the blaze, however the home has been significantly damaged.

All residents have safely evacuated, and NSW Police and NSW Ambulance are in attendance.

Initial investigations suggest the fire may have started in the homes solar panels.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said it was important to take steps to ensure solar panels were as safe as possible.

"Over the last five years we have seen solar panel related fires increase five-fold. It is not uncommon to see solar panels cause house and building fires," he said.

“By ensuring solar panels are installed by a licensed installer, and are well maintained by a professional, you can prevent a tragedy."
