Dog Rescue - Newport

Specialist rescue crews from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) have rescued a person and a dog who became trapped on a cliff edge on Barrenjoey Road, Newport just after 1pm this afternoon.
Initial investigations suggest the dog had escaped from its home and became trapped on the ledge and a passerby had attempted to help the dog down before becoming trapped themselves.
Firefighters were able to safely rescue both the dog and the person and bring them safely onto the nearby beach using a large ladder.
The dog has since been returned to its relieved owners.
