House Fire - Whalan

Over a dozen firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) have extinguished a fire that broke out in a home on Waikanda Crescent, Whalan shortly after 8am this morning.
Crews arrived a short time after the intial Triple Zero (000) calls to find a large plumes of black smoke coming from a two level townhouse.
The fire was extinguished shortly after 9.30am, with NSW Ambulance and NSW Police both in attendance.
No injuries were reported, however the home was completely destroyed as a result of the blaze.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said FRNSW is attending numerous house fires and that it was a timely reminder for residents to develop their fire escape plan.
"Now is the time for residents to check they have a working smoke alarm and that all members of the family have an awareness of calling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency," he said.
