Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters have managed to extinguish a car fire that broke out on the M1 Pacific Motorway, Somersby just after 8:30am this morning.

Following numerous Triple Zero (000) calls, firefighters arrived on scene to find a car, which had pulled over in the southbound breakdown lane, well alight.

One lane of traffic was closed due to large plumes of smoke impacting motorists. The fire has since been extinguished and the road reopened, however traffic may still be impacted.
