House Fire - Macquarie Fields

More than 20 Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters have worked to extinguish a large fire that broke out at a home on Alice Street, Macquarie Fields just after 9am this morning.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames issuing from the rear of the single storey house. Crews worked for several hours to contain the fire however the house was destroyed.

NSW Ambulance were in attendance however no injuries were reported.

Fire investigators on scene determined the blaze was caused by a LPG gas cooker which was left on inside the home whilst the residents had left for the day.

The leading cause of house fires is leaving cooking unattended. This is a timely reminder for all residents to ensure appliances are turned off before leaving the house or before going to bed.
