Just after 4pm this afternoon specialist rescue crews from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) were called to a fire trail near the Central Coast suburb of Woy Woy.

In a multi agency response, FRNSW along with NSW Police and NSW Ambulance responded to reports a young male had fallen approximately four metres down an embankment and onto rocks.

Using specialist rescue equipment crews made their way to the patient where he was assessed on scene by paramedics.

The patient had suffered lower back injuries, he was stabilised and moved to a more accessible location so that he could be transported via rescue helicopter to hospital.
