Machinery Fire - Port Kembla

More than 20 Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters have managed to contain a machinery fire that broke out at a coal facility on Five Island Road, Port Kembla just before 11.00am today.

FRNSW crews from across the Wollongong region arrived on scene to find a fire in a conveyor belt well alight.

Firefighters are now working to extinguish the fire and prevent further spread.

Approximately ten staff members have been evacuated from the area however no injuries have been reported.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
