Rail bridge fire - Rhodes

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has extinguished a fire that caused damage to a rail bridge at Rhodes.

Firefighters from Rhodes, Ryde and Concord fire stations were called to the scene at 3.54pm where a number of disused railway sleepers under the rail bridge and cycleway were alight.

Firefighters used multiple lengths of hose to get to the fire which was in a difficult location.

Transport for NSW was advised to alert any trains nearby.

Due to damage to the bridge, all pedestrian access will now be closed off to the public.
