Spillage - Clareville

Published: 03 Jan 2021 11:02am

Just after 11:00am yesterday Fire and Rescue crews responded to reports of a spillage from a sunken vessel at Clareville on the Northern Beaches

Fire Crews worked alongside Rural Fire Service and Maritime NSW
to investigate the extent of the spillage and the best way to protect the precious marine life and environment

The spillage was occurring from a sunken trawler in approximately 12m of water and releasing diesel to the surface

Fire Hazmat crews used specialist Containment booms which were deployed around the spill to prevent further spread of the diesel, and along the shoreline for fuel that had reached the shore

Approximately 20 litres of diesel had been released and salvage operations continue today
