Structure Fire - Newtown

Just after 9:30am this morning Fire and Rescue NSW responded to reports of a structure alight on Queen St, Newtown.
On arrival firefighters have reported a house well alight with all persons out of the building. The incident was upgraded by first arriving crews with six trucks attending.
One occupant was treated by firefighters and NSW Ambulance for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters also rescued a pet cat named Suzzy who fled the scene but was later found again.
NSW Police were also attendance.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said FRNSW is attending numerous house fires and that it was a timely reminder for residents to develop their fire escape plan.
"Now is the time for residents to check they have a working smoke alarm and that all members of the family have an awareness of calling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency," he said.
