Cliff Rescue - Newport

Just before 8:20am Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters from Avalon Fire Station responded to reports of a person fallen from a cliff edge at the eastern end of Queens Parade, Newport.

On arrival, firefighters found the patient had fallen approximately 10 metres down a 30 metre cliff.

Specialist firefighters, trained in vertical cliff rescues we called in from Narrabeen to perform the rescue.

The patient spent almost 3 hours stuck on the ledge before being hauled to safety by Fire and Rescue NSW crews.

She was assessed by NSW Ambulance and transported with minor injuries.

An air ambulance and NSW Police were also in attendance.
