Unit Fire - Riverwood

Just after 6.00am on Christmas Morning Fire and Rescue received multiple Triple Zero (000) calls to a Unit Fire in Washington Ave, Riverwood.
On arrival Riverwood Crews found an active fire on the third level in a residential unit block.
Over 20 Fire fighters from surrounding suburbs quickly responded to gain fire control within half an hour
Police and ambulance are on scene and no one was home at the time. Over 20 people evacuated from neighbouring units.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said FRNSW is attending numerous house fires and that it was a timely reminder for residents to develop their fire escape plan.
"Now is the time for residents to check they have a working smoke alarm and that all members of the family have an awareness of calling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency," he said.
