Structure Fire - Bankstown

Just after 3.30am this morning Fire and Rescue NSW responded to a large structure fire at Bankstown City Plaza, Bankstown which had impacted a number of office buildings.

On arrival crews from Bankstown Fire Station found an office on the second level of the shopping centre well alight. More than 30 firefighters from across western Sydney battled the blaze for a number of hours, gaining control just before 6.30am.

The office has been destroyed as a result of the fire with adjoining businesses sustaining smoke and water damage.

Bankstown City Plaza is closed between North and South Terraces, and buses are being diverted; trains are not impacted. Check www.transportnsw.info for updates.

NSW Police are still on scene investigating the cause of the fire.
