Train derailment - Farmborough Heights

Shortly before 6.00am, Fire and Rescue NSW was called to Fairloch Avenue, Farmborough Heights following reports of a freight train derailment.

Upon arrival emergency services determined approximately 30 carriages carrying grain had derailed from train tracks between Dombarton and Unanderra due to a suspected break failure. Two drivers were safely removed from the train and treated by NSW Ambulance. No further injuries were reported.

Firefighters assessed the scene for HAZMAT spills and powerline damage and rendered the area safe just before 8.00am.
