Building Fire - Gladesville

Just before midday today Fire and Rescue NSW responded to Victoria Rd, Gladesville following reports of an explosion in a three storey apartment building.

Upon arrival crews from Gladesville Fire Station observed thick black smoke issuing from a second storey apartment with debris spread across the rear of the complex.

More than 20 firefighters are currently on scene battling a fire which occurred as a result of the explosion.

Traffic on Victoria Rd is affected as emergency services continue to bring the situation under control. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

The cause of the explosion is yet to be determined.
