House Fire - San Remo

Published: 22 Nov 2020 09:00am

9am this morning Fire and rescue NSW along with a crew from the Rural Fire Service were called to a House Fire in Catalina Street, San Remo after a passerby heard a smoke alarm and alerted Triple Zero (000).

Crews from Doyalson, Hamlyn Terrace, and Budgewoi Fire Stations arrived to find a two storey house with smoke and flames visible from the rear of the premises.

Firefighters worked quickly and managed to contain the blaze to the kitchen of the home. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing however initial reports suggest the fire started as a result of an electrical fault in the fridge.

No injuries were reported however the home was significantly smoke damaged.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said FRNSW is attending numerous house fires and that it was a timely reminder for residents to develop their fire escape plan.

"Now is the time for residents to check they have a working smoke alarm and that all members of the family have an awareness of calling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency," he said.
