Scrap Yard Fire - Teralba

Just after 11am, Fire and Rescue NSW received numerous Triple Zero (000) calls reporting a fire at a recycling plant on Racecourse Road, Teralba.

Multiple fire stations from the Newcastle Region responded to the incident and on arrival found a large fire had ignited within scrap metal inside the plant.

Firefighters worked for over two hours to contain the blaze, with the Rural Fire Service also in attendance to provide additional water supply.

Additional resources were called in to assist with firefighting efforts including a thirty tonne excavator to find the origin of the blaze and other earth moving equipment to assist with clearing debris.

NSW Ambulance were in attendance however no injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
