Unit Fire - Eastwood

Shortly after 1pm, Fire and Rescue NSW were alerted to a unit fire on Rutledge Street, Eastwood. Multiple crews from Sydney’s North-Western suburbs have responded to the incident.

Crews arrived to find thick smoke issuing from the balcony of an apartment on the first level of the building. While residents evacuated the building, firefighters investigated the cause of the smoke.

Firefighters quickly established that there was a fire on the balcony of one of the building's units and crews got to work to gain control. Once extinguished, firefighters checked for any fire extension and ventilated the apartment before occupants were invited back in.

No injuries were sustained as a result of this incident.
