Cockatoo Rescue - Bankstown

Published: 28 Sep 2020 12:34pm

At 12:30pm, 28 September, Fire and Rescue NSW were alerted to a pet bird in a tree that would not come down via a Triple Zero (000) call from an anxious young owner in Bankstown.

Firefighters from the City of Sydney Fire Station were in the area and happy to lend a hand in helping get the beloved pet down safely.

Crews tried a number of different methods to get the cockatoo down from his perch, which was approximately 10 metres in the air, however, a spray of water from the fire hose to branches nearby were enough to get him moving back to his owner.

Although a little wet, the pet cockatoo was happy to be back and his young owner relieved to be reunited with his feathered friend.
