Just after 6pm, 22 September, Fire Rescue NSW were called to Smith Street, Chatswood after a Triple Zero (000) call reported a diesel spill from an underground storage tank.

Hazardous materials specialists from Forestville Fire Station were first on scene and located the spill after a large underground storage tank overflowed spilling approximately 1200 litres of diesel.
