Truck Fire - Milperra

At 5:46pm this evening, Fire and Rescue NSW crews from South-Western Sydney were alerted to a truck fire on the M5 Motorway near Milperra after numerous Triple Zero (000) calls reported the incident.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find a large truck well alight and are currently working to control the blaze.

Traffic on the M5 Motorway is heavily impacted with west-bound traffic blocked. Please drive with caution and avoid the area where possible.

NSW Police are on scene diverting traffic.

UPDATE: 6:51pm
Fire has been contained, Firefighters using foam to ensure full extinguishment.
Firefighting operations are continuing.
Two west-bound lanes have reopened however traffic is still heavily affected in the area.
