Diesel Spill - Katoomba

Published: 09 Sep 2020 09:11am

Just after 9am this morning, Fire and Rescue NSW were called to Govett St, Katoomba after a Triple Zero (000) call reported a diesel slick that was potentially impacting a stream nearby.

Katoomba Fire Station were first to the scene and quickly established that a large diesel spill, approximately 400m long, had occurred with some fuel entering a catchment area.

Firefighters deployed booms (temporary floating barriers) to contain the spill and mopped up the road with special soil to absorb the diesel fuel.

FRNSW crews were clear from the scene at approximately 10:30am.
