Unit Fire - Gladesville

Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Drummoyne and Ryde Fire Stations were called to a home on Victoria Rd, Gladesville shortly after 2pm this afternoon after a Triple Zero (000) call reported a unit fire.
On arrival crews could hear a smoke alarm ringing from a level five unit.
Fire fighters gained entry and located a small fire on a kitchen stove which was extinguished quickly to prevent damage.
The unit has been cleared of smoke and rendered safe.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said the leading cause of house fires in NSW is leaving cooking unattended and it was important the community remembered to keep looking when cooking.
"If your cooking catches fire, never use water to put out a fat or oil fire, turn off the stove if it is safe to do so and call Triple Zero (000)."
