Unit Fire - Mona Vale

Just after 2:30pm Fire and Rescue crews responded to Pittwater Road, Mona Vale after receiving a Triple Zero (000) call reporting a unit fire.

Crews from Mona Vale Fire Station arrived on scene to find smoke issuing from a level one window. After gaining entry, fire fighters found cooking unattended on fire and quickly extinguished before further fire spread.


Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said the leading cause of house fires in NSW is leaving cooking unattended and it was important the community remembered to keep looking when cooking.

"If your cooking catches fire, never use water to put out a fat or oil fire, turn off the stove if it is safe to do so and call Triple Zero (000)."
