Kitchen Fire - Warilla

Just after 9am this morning, Fire and Rescue NSW responded to multiple Triple Zero (000) calls reporting smoke coming from a townhouse in Warilla.
Multiple crews from the South Coast responded, with Warrawong Fire Station arriving first on scene just before 9.15am
Upon arrival firefighters found a fire in the kitchen and an elderly female resident who was quickly removed from the home and treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading throughout the house.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said the leading cause of house fires in NSW is leaving cooking unattended and it was important the community remembered to keep looking when cooking.
"If your cooking catches fire, never use water to put out a fat or oil fire, turn off the stove if it is safe to do so and call Triple Zero (000)."
