Kitchen fire - St Marys

At 8:08am this morning, Fire and Rescue NSW received a Triple Zero (000) call from the occupants of a house in St Marys, where a small kitchen fire had occurred.
Ropes Crossing Fire Station were the first to arrive and established the residents had done the right thing by switching off the power, removing the food and extinguishing the fire.
Firefighters ventilated the house of the smoke and ensured the kitchen was safe again.
While no injuries were sustained, NSW Ambulance were required for two adults and a child, for treatment of smoke inhalation.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said the leading cause of house fires in NSW is leaving cooking unattended and it was important the community remembered to keep looking when cooking.
"If your cooking catches fire, never use water to put out a fat or oil fire, turn off the stove if it is safe to do so and call Triple Zero (000)."
