Construction Site Fire - East Killara

Just before 2am this morning Fire and Rescue NSW crews from across Sydney’s north were called to reports of a large fire in a home that was under construction on Churchill Road in East Killara.

Firefighters arrived to find a fire had started and was developing rapidly in a house that was nearing completion of its construction.

Water supply issues were soon experienced with water mains rupturing. Fire and Rescue NSW increased the response to include additional crews to assist with relaying water to the scene.

More than 40 firefighters battled the blaze into the night and were able to stop the fire spreading the nearby properties however the house was destroyed. No people were injured.

Fire investigations are ongoing and the cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.
