Serious burns from townhouse fire - Kirrawee

Just before 2am this morning Fire and Rescue NSW responded to reports of the top level of a townhouse on fire.

Crews from across the Sutherland Shire arrived within minutes to find a townhouse fully involved in fire.

Firefighters entered the burning building to search for trapped people and extinguish the fire.

All occupants had managed to self-evacuate however two people, a male and a female, both middle aged, have suffered serious burns and were treated by NSW Ambulance and then conveyed to hospital.

The fire is now extinguished and neighbouring tenants have been allowed to return to their homes.

Fire and Rescue NSW’s Fire Investigation and Research Unit will attend shortly and will assist NSW Police with their inquiries.
