House fire - Guildford

Published: 02 Jun 2020 05:39am

Just after 5.30am this morning Fire and Rescue crews were called to a house fire on Woodville Rd, Guildford.

Upon arrival crews were able to extinguish a fire from a fire pit positioned on the back deck.

The fire pit had caught alight and spread from the deck and had started to impact the home.

Luckily the family involved were able to safely self evacuate due to having a working smoke alarm.

As we head into the winter months FRNSW are reminding the community to ensure their homes are safe.
1. Always keep items at least one meter from the heater,
2. Check your smoke alarm is working
3. If you are using an open fire do so in an open and well ventilated area and make sure it is completely out before heading to bed.
