Unit Fire - Wollongong

Just before 6am this morning, Fire and Rescue NSW received numerous calls to Triple Zero (000) reporting a fire in a unit on Cliff Road, Wollongong.

Multiple fire stations from the Illawarra region responded to the incident and on arrival found smoke issuing from the top floor of a three storey unit block.

Firefighters were able to quickly control the blaze and contain it to the room of origin, however the unit had been significantly damaged.

Eight residents were evacuated from the unit block, however no injuries were reported.

NSW Police were in attendance and are currently investigating the cause of the blaze.
