House Fire - Berkeley

Just after 2:17am this morning, Fire and Rescue NSW responded to Nolan St, Berkeley after a Triple Zero (000) caller reported a house fire in the area.

Unanderra Fire Station arrived on scene to find a single level home well alight with smoke and flames issuing from the roof. First responding crews upgraded the response calling for additional firefighters to attend as the fire was threatening neighboring homes.

Multiple crews from across the Wollongong region worked to contain the fire for more than two hours, and prevented it from spreading to nearby properties. Numerous residents were evacuated from Nolan street however no injuries were reported.

Despite the best efforts of crews house was totally destroyed by fire and a car parked on the lawn was significantly damaged.

NSW Police were on scene and are now working with Fire Investigators to determine the cause of the blaze.
