Firefighters embark on 400 in 4 charity bike ride

Published: 27th March 2013

The 8th annual Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW) 400 in 4 Charity Bike Ride will depart Wagga Wagga on Monday, 1 April, bound for the Burns Unit at the Children’s Hospital, Westmead.

The group of 26 firefighters will ride 400kms over four days to raise much-needed funding for the Burns Unit.

The riders will travel through Gundagai, Yass, Goulburn and parts of Sydney along the way visiting schools and local communities, giving fire safety demonstrations and encouraging communities to ensure they have a working smoke alarm at home.

The riders will also be selling raffle tickets as well as seeking donations to help the Burns Unit continue funding an anaesthetist fellow and to renovate a surgical ward.

Over the past seven years, the ride has raised nearly $250,000 for the Burns Unit and this year organisers are hoping to add to that.
