Want a challenging and rewarding career?

Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW) will launch its 2013 permanent firefighter recruitment campaign on 14 March and is encouraging applications from people seeking a challenging and rewarding career that can make a positive difference to NSW communities.

Previous recruitment campaigns for permanent FRNSW firefighters have attracted thousands of applications.

Commissioner Greg Mullins said he wanted the people of NSW to continue to be served by a modern and dynamic firefighting workforce who reflected the diversity, culture and skills of our society.

“I want men and women from around the country, including Aboriginal communities and Torres Strait Islander communities, as well as people of all cultural backgrounds, to step forward and apply,” he said.

Commissioner Mullins said candidates would need to pass a new Physical Aptitude Test (PAT), designed in conjunction with the University of Wollongong Centre for Human and Applied Physiology.

He said FRNSW was one of the world’s largest emergency services and the agency was looking to employ people who reflected its professionalism and values.

“It is an immensely rewarding career and I encourage those with a passion for protecting and serving the public to consider joining,” he said.

“Firefighting is one of the most important and rewarding careers you could have. Firefighters are respected community members; and being a firefighter provides you with the opportunity to make a real and ongoing difference to the lives of the people of NSW.”

Online applications will be open from 14 March until 28 March. There will also be special information sessions held across Sydney. Bookings essential (02) 9265 3925:
