Fire & Rescue NSW corrects information about incident in Matraville

Published: 28th May 2012

On Saturday 26 May, Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW) was called to an incident at Matraville involving the excessive burn off gas at a plant within the precinct.

One FRNSW crew, along with a local emergency response team, responded to the incident, purely to monitor the situation, which posed no danger to staff at the plant or the surrounding community.

In one statement provided to a radio station, the plant was incorrectly referred to as the Orica plant. FRNSW apologises to Orica for any inconvenience caused by this unintentional error.

Other public information issued on the night simply referred to an incident at a plant at Matraville and confirmed there was no threat to the community.
