35th anniversary of the Granville rail disaster

On Wednesday 18 January, Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Commissioner Greg Mullins will lay a wreath at the site of the disaster that occurred when the Bold Street overpass at Granville, collapsed onto the Blue Mountains train, killing 83 passengers on board.

“Thirty five years ago, our firefighters were amongst the first rescue workers on scene,” said Commissioner Mullins.

”Despite the horror of what surrounded them, they worked tirelessly alongside other rescue workers releasing the trapped and injured.”

Commissioner Mullins will also attend the Memorial Service at 11.00am at St Marks Anglican Church, Granville, where he will represent the many men and woman of FRNSW in paying respects to all those who lost their lives in such tragic circumstances.
