Chatswood West residents invited to bushfire info sessions

Prepare. Act. Survive. That’s the message Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW) officers will have for Chatswood West residents living in bushfire-prone areas at two information sessions to be held on Saturday, 17 December.
FRNSW has letterbox-dropped Chatswood West households identified as being at potential risk from bushfires, inviting residents to attend information sessions.
FRNSW Acting Zone Commander, Superintendent Selwyn Mathias, said the sessions were aimed at making residents aware of their bushfire risk and informing them about how they can prepare themselves, their families and their homes for the bushfire season.
“Bushfires are a natural part of the Australian environment but unfortunately many people fail to prepare for them,” Superintendent Mathias said.
“Preparation and the decisions residents make ahead of a bushfire are critical to survival.
“We encourage residents who received a letter from FRNSW to come along to one of the sessions to learn how they can become mentally and physically prepared for a bushfire.”
Information sessions will be held at 9am and 11.30am on Saturday, 17 December at Lowanna Park, corner of Greville St and Fullers Rd, Chatswood West.

All residents who live near the bush are encouraged to complete a bushfire survival plan and have an understanding of fire danger ratings set each day of the bushfire season.
