Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has launched its 2012 recruitment campaign and is seeking applications from people from around Australia wanting a challenging and rewarding career that can make a positive difference to the communities of NSW.

Previous recruitment campaigns for permanent FRNSW firefighters generally attract - on average - 6000 applications. This particular recruitment round seeks to fill over 70 firefighting positions at stations throughout NSW during 2012.

Commissioner Greg Mullins said he wants the people of NSW to continue being served by a modern and dynamic firefighting workforce that reflects the diversity, culture and skills of our society.

"I call on all Australian citizens interested in this rewarding career to apply. I want men and women from around the country, including indigenous communities and people of all cultural backgrounds starting out in their career, as well as those with life experience who are looking for a career change, to step forward and apply," Commissioner Mullins said.

"I have been a firefighter for more than 30 years and it has been immensely rewarding to be able to make a difference in the community and I encourage those with a passion for protecting and serving the public to consider joining FRNSW.

"Our organisation is one that offers and encourages diversity of our people through career paths within our rescue, fire investigation, community safety, HAZMAT, support and counter terrorism units. It’s an exciting career – you never know what’s going to occur each shift, so expect the unexpected."

There is a FRNSW information night for people seeking further information on Thursday 8 December, 6.30 to 8.30 pm, Parramatta RSL Club, corner of Macquarie　and O'Connell Sts.

"FRNSW is one of the world’s largest emergency services and we are looking to employ people who reflect our professionalism and values," the Commissioner said.
