Upgraded fire engine for Batemans Bay

Fire protection and emergency response in the Batemans Bay community has been enhanced with the hand over of a replacement upgraded fire engine to Batemans Bay fire and rescue officers.
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Commissioner Greg Mullins said FRNSW continued to provide its firefighters with modern and safe vehicles for their vital work in protecting NSW families.
“This upgraded fire engine continues the FRNSW commitment to increase our fire-fighting capability on the South Coast,” he said.
The Scania engine has a pump that supplies up to 4000 litres of water a minute for firefighting operations and a foam system to fight chemical, petrol and bush fires. It replaces a smaller fire engine.
Batemans Bay has three fire engines with a range of capabilities.
FRNSW local Zone Commander, Superintendent Wayne Roberts, said Batemans Bay fire and rescue crews did a tremendous job protecting the community.
“Batemans Bay firefighters responded to more than 250 fire and emergency calls in 2010/11 and took part in more than 50 community safety activities to educate the local community about fire safety,” he said.
“This vehicle will ensure they have the best equipment for their work.”
