12/08/11 - Fatal residential fire at Wetherill park

At 1102pm on Wednesday 12 August, fire crews were alerted to a house fire at The Horsley Drive, Wetherill Park. Crews were on scene within 5 minutes and reported a fire in a ground floor bedroom of a two level building.
Firefighters rescued one elderly male from the room and he was treated by ambulance crews on scene and conveyed to hospital. He subsequently passed away on Wednesday 17 August.
A fire involving a bed and bed base was quickly extinguished within 10 minutes and the building ventilated. A report into the cause of the fire has been prepared for the coroner.
