Published: 1st August 2011

Just after 4.00pm this afternoon, Monday 1 August, fire crews were called to reports of a car wrecking yard well alight in Gow Street at Padstow.

Large volumes of thick black smoke were reported from numerous triple Zero callers on the nearby M4 motorway.

Firefighters from four surrounding fire stations were responded and quickly arrived on scene. They were successful in quickly containing an area of stacked wrecked vehicles which were on fire before the fire could develop and spread to adjoining stacked piles and surrounding buildings. No injuries were reported during the incident.
