18/7/11 - Laundromat fire in Surry Hills

Early this evening crews from Redfern and City of Sydney were responded to smoke issuing from a laundry in Albion St Surry Hills.The fire was in a 2 storey building, with a laundry on the ground floor and residences above. The fire was in the laundry, and extinguished using 2 hoselines. 2 occupants from the residence were evacuated by fire crews, and transported to hospital by ambulance.
The building sustained fire damage to the ground floor, and smoke penetration on the 2nd level. Fire crews ventilated the premises before leaving.
