15/7/11 - Unit fire in Top Ryde

Just after 11.00pm fire crews were responded to a unit fire in Blaxland Rd Top Ryde. Crews from Ryde and Gladesville both arrived within 6 minutes, and reported smoke issuing from from the roof space of a block of units.Fire crews initially gained access using ladders, and requested extra assistance. Search and Rescue revealed no persons were trapped, with crews then concentrating on extinguishing the pockets of fire.
The fire was extinguished by 3 pumps, and 5 hoselines. Approximately 35 firefighters were on scene for the duration of the fire.
