11/7/11 - Man rescued from balcony in Ryde unit fire

Fire crews from Ryde and Eastwood were responded to a unit fire in Macquarie Park just after 9.40am today.On arrival Ryde fire station witnessed large amounts of smoke coming from the unit, and called for extra assistance, with Gordon responded as well. There was 1 male on the balcony of the unit. Crews rescued him using their ladder, and he was transported to hospital with smoke inhalation.
Crews extinguished the fire, and carried out search and rescue on the unit and the adjacent units to ensure no other persons were trapped and that the fire had not spread.
