7/7/11 - Grass fire in Maryland

A grass fire in a swamp area in Maryland today burnt out approximately 5 ha of grass. The fire was moved along by 20 kmh winds.

The Duty Commander set up his command position in Whistler Way, where crews were protecting residences. 3 FRNSW and 6 RFS trucks fought the fire. A controlled burn of 200 metres managed to control the fire, whilst crews stood by at Whistler Way and Ulambi St protecting the residents. The scene was successfully extinguished then blacked out by fire crews.
