24/06/11 - House Fire in Rankin Park

At approximately 6.00pm this evening fire crews in the Newcastle were called to a house alight in Rankin Park.Crews from Cardiff responded to the 2 storey weatherboard house, and on arrival found the 2nd storey well alight. Backed up by crews from New Lambton, Lambton Charlestown, 2 crews in Breathing Apparatus and with hoselines conducted Search and Rescue, confirming all residents were out of the building.
One 45 year old male was treated by ambulance personnel, and the fire was extinguished by 7.30pm, with the house suffering major damage.
